Registrations for the iBuild Hackathon are officially open and to give you a heads-up, we've sat down with iExec’s team to provide you with a sneak peek into what you can expect from this challenge.Let’s go!To give some background, can you share a little bit about iExec and its mission?iExec has been in the space since 2017 and we were the first ones to decentralize cloud computing. After that, we were also the first protocol to combine blockchain and confidential computing.Today, our focus is to go beyond and make web3 more accessible, while offering a platform where builders can build and monetize applications. Besides, we also offer a platform to allow anyone to regain ownership of their digital assets and benefit from them. Can you tell us a bit more about the monetization features iExec provides? With the privacy pass, you can monetize your email and you can earn RLC tokens for receiving marketing emails while keeping your email private. On the other hand, with the worker pass you can monetize your computing power, and you can earn RLC tokens for executing computational tasks on the iExec network.iExec allows you, as a developer, to use our developer tools to build applications that put users and data privacy first and earn crypto every time they are used. This monetization model is something that distinguishes iExec from other companies in the blockchain industry, and for that reason iBuild will feature a participation track designed for data privacy and monetization.About the iBuild Hackathon: What motivated iExec to organize this hackathon, and what can participants expect from this challenge? We want to give builders hands-on experience with the latest iExec developer tools: the DataProtector, the Web3Mail, and the Oracle Factory. First, we will give them the tools to build applications that put the user and privacy first, and then we will also help them to learn how to create value from them. Another thing that is very special is that we will help them to get familiar with topics that developers are not very used to like monetization mechanisms and business models in web3. For that, we’ll have Nathan, an expert in this topic who has extensive experience working with VCs and web3 business models. You can learn more about the DataProtector, the Web3Mail and their technical functions in the LayerX Academy.Which iExec’s tools will participants work with during the hackathon? The hackathon will emphasize hands-on experience with iExec’s dev tools: The DataProtector, a tool that allows users to grant dApps access to their data without revealing the data itself. The Web3mail, a tool that allows dApps to send an email to a registered Ethereum account holder without needing to store or know their email address. The Oracle Factory, a tool that allows creating oracles from any API in minutes. These are iExec’s flagship tools that make it easier than ever to build applications while creating the best web3 experience for users. The builders that decide to participate in the hackathon will learn about and apply these tools in one of the 3 participation tracks the hackathon will feature: the Oracle Track, the Data Privacy & Monetization Track, and the Freestyle Track. Can you briefly go over the judging criteria and what will iExec look for in the winning projects? We will focus on several key criteria that reflect our commitment to real-world impact and innovation. Obviously, we will value the effective implementation of iExec tools, evaluating how participants leverage our technology to create meaningful solutions. The user experience and quality of interface design will be other important aspects we'll prioritize. In addition to these criteria, we will also prioritize creativity and innovation in projects that demonstrate potential for real-world adoption and effectively incorporate monetization features.Beyond the monetary prizes, what perks and rewards will the hackathon offer to participants? The hackathon will feature many technical workshops and AMA sessions where we will share our knowledge and guide builders in the process of delivering high-quality projects that meet the evaluation criteria. This will be an invaluable opportunity for builders and participants to expand their skill sets, gain insights from industry experts, and forge connections within the blockchain community. All while working with a pioneering platform to build, own and monetize in web3.The best projects will also receive an exclusive NFT which allows them to qualify for a fast-track process to apply for the iExec Grants Program. Additionally, they will benefit from a dedicated marketing campaign within our community of over 80,000 members and receive special goodies that we will only disclose on the day we announce the winners.📬 Registrations are officially open!Participation is free and everyone is welcome to participate. Keep in mind that this will be a golden opportunity to #build a valuable network with leading blockchain experts and work on real-world projects using iExec’s powerful stack alongside fellow developers. Here’s a quick rundown of the hackathon:🎉 iBuild Opening Ceremony on 7th March✅ Registrations are open until 27th March: you can join the hackathon here.🗓️ Hacking will run from 1st April to 28th April, with the winners being announced on April 29th.🏆 Prize pool: $18K in RLC + hackathon bonus perks (🤫)To join, head over to TAIKAI where you can learn more about the challenge, participation tracks, and timeline.📨 Register to the iBuild Hackathon
