Description

Global project description

Le Yachtman is a virtual travels agency to serve as a new advertising media for brands. The goal of this metaverse is to visit inspiring, revisited, forgotten and futuristic virtual entertaining places into the form of virtual travels.

Le Yachtman will work on desktop and mobile through a website.

It will propose 2 ways of entertainment :

  • The virtual travels (in cloud gaming). Please find by following this link a prototype to give you an idea of the gameplay with an avatar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYC63Eb-eWI
  • The navigation module (in Web GL), to move the avatar of the player from each virtual travels and to race against other players with virtual sailing yachts.

E-Navigation Module

The goal of this 10th CASSINI hackathon is to develop a prototype of the navigation module with virtual sailing yachts subject to real marine weather.

The problem to solve by this e-navigation module in web GL, is the limited time to sail, to few days per year, for sailing enthusiast. The solution we propose is a fun battle race gameplay to sail all year round virtually. The game mechanic use real weather condition from satellite (Copernicus, NOAA, ECMWF, Meteo France) thanks to a visualisation data provider API : Weather Layers.

Additional Features

This game is mainly dedicated to virtual e-sailing. But it will also be possible to race with both similar real and virtual sailing yacht, thanks to in-situ data collected by sensors on the real yachts, and then transmit through Kineis IoT module in near real time. These in-situ data improve the accuracy of satellite data, to provide a fair gameplay with a similar physical simulation of ocean dynamic on both real and virtual yachts.

Finally, in the case of a mixed virtual and real yacht race located in Europe, the SBAS system of the EGNOS signal will be really useful to improve the accuracy of the real yacht location during the regattas. This technology improve both the quality of the gameplay and the safety at sea for all the sailors.
