Description

The additive manufacturing and the robotic applications are tremendously increasing in the construction field. However, the leading additive manufacturing methods on the market are facing some shortcomings like limited printable range, limited scale of the printed building, the inflexibility to install and move the printing facilities.

This project aims to propose a concept of additive construction by using the so called “co-builders” – a kind of small mobile robot, which is also called “swarm printing robot” – to extend the printable range and enhance the printing flexibility. By this method, the printing efficiency will be enhanced as well. The mechanical design of the robot, the printing material, the localization, and the path design for the “co-builders” are the key points in the future prototyping process.
